Last week we dropped in to catch up with the owners of a front garden in Trinity, Edinburgh, which we designed and planted a couple of years ago.
The design sees a simple circular lawn surrounded by borders planted in a calming palette of green and white.
Clipped Buxus sempervirens, Potentilla fruticosa 'Abbotswood' and Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Golf Ball' form a ring of structure interplanted with Hakonechloa grasses.
Borders are filled with white flowering herbaceous perennials. On our visit Libertia grandiflora, Astrantia 'Shaggy' and Sidalcea candida were in full flower. They will be followed with a succession of japanese anemone, Phlox paniculata 'David', Thalictrum delavayi 'Album' and Hydrangea Kyushu.
The design is an exercise in form and restraint which compliments the traditional stone villa beautifully and it's a pleasure to see it establishing so well.
