round up! - January 2015

weeding out the best reads from another busy month on the internet

After a very relaxing Christmas break split between Edinburgh and Marrakech, we spent January deeply rooted in the studio working on garden design and planting projects in Edinburgh and East Lothian.

At home the Twig garden was littered with Cyclamen and we made frequent visits to break the ice on the pond so the fish could breath.

And of course, there were wonderful windows of reading time.

our pick of this month's reads

  • In praise of Cyclamen - We weren't the only ones delighting in Cyclamen this month. Dan Pearson joined us with a lovely article in The Observer which resonated well with us.
  • The 35 ingredient salad - Sandra Lawrence wrote a fascinating piece for The Telegraph about the restoration of one of the kitchen gardens at Hampton Court under the keep of gardener Vicki Cook.
  • Flora Illustrata - Whilst Robin Lane Fox was looking to the season ahead, Anna Pavord looked to the past to the origins of botanical illustrations in her column for The Independent.
  • the annual SGD awards - And finally, we enjoyed the winning gardens from last year's SGD awards, especially Debbie Robert's Guernsey garden which won the award for best international garden.

Happy reading...
