Scent is so evocative, I can't imagine not having it in the garden. It's also very personal so we'd recommend you find out what you like before you buy. Here are a few scented plants to explore.

- Scented evergreen climber with simple creamy white flowers usually appearing in April and early may.
A large shrub grown for its early spring flowers, in shades of yellow or burnt orange, frost resistant and scented.
- Large sweet scented twining climber producing masses of white flowers but requires a little shelter.
- The fragrant Honey Suckle, a woody scrambling climber typical of British hedge rows.
- An excellent architural shrub ideal for a jungle planting scheme and for winter interest.
- Frost tender evergreen with fragrant white flowers produced in late summer.
- Very fragrant winter evergreen for the toughest of locations.
- Shade loving evergreen shrub with long lasting flower buds followed by scented white flowers in spring.
Large shrub or small tree bearing large clusters of purple, pink, lilac or white strongly scented flowers in early summer.
- A medium sized winter flowering shrub with small pink yet heavily scented flowers.
- Vigourous twining climber producing masses of violet hanging flower clusters in early summer.
