Tulipa 'Queen of Night'

If you are looking for a Tulip with elegance and sophistication you need look no further than Tulipa 'Queen of Night'.

This is the little black dress of the Tulip world.

At it's best it is a rich dark purple, at a distance pure black. In stronger light it takes on sumptuous velvet tones highlighting deep claret reds within its clean classical shaped petals.

where to plant Tulip'Queen of Night

Tulipa 'Queen of Night'

Reaching 60cm tall Tulipa 'Queen of Night' sits well amongst a foil of loosely formed ground cover.

The bulbs should be planted in Autumn in well drained soil in full sun.

Tulips hate winter wet so if your soil is very heavy try them in pots instead. Plant 4 to 6 inches deep.

Tulip'Queen of Night planting companions

Tulipa 'Queen of Night' is promiscuous. It is as happy mingling with soft blues, plump purples or ravenous reds as it is quietly meandering amongst the purest of whites. So play with your colour combinations and experiment a little.

Many modern varieties of Tulip will often only live a few years. Use this short life span as the best excuse ever to keep replacing bulbs and changing your late spring colour combinations.
