Parthenocissus quinquefolia

Parthenocissus quinquefolia

Family: Vitaceae

Genus: Parthenocissus

Species: quinquefolia

Common Name: Virginia Creeper

Parthenocissus quinquefolia

Virginia creepers are among the best climbers when it comes to covering walls. Their leaves are attractively lobed with five spreading finger-like leaflets.

Left to their own devices they will cover an ugly wall clinging to it directly with no need for additional support.

It is, however, the fiery autumn colours of bright reds and deep purples which transform the plant's character before the leaves drop off for winter.
