Olearia macrodonta

Olearia macrodonta

Family: Compositae / Asteraceae

Genus: Olearia

Species: macrodonta

Common Name: Daisy Bush or New Zealand Holly

Olearia macrodonta

Olearia macrodonta gets its name from its large toothed leaves (macro donta). The dull sage green colour make an interesting contrast to other foliage.

In mid summer the plant becomes smothered in clusters of white daisy-like flowers which are followed by tufted buff coloured seeds.

Although not suitable for the colder parts of the country the plant is tough in other ways and makes an excellent barrier to salt air in seaside locations.
