Buxus sempervirens

Buxus sempervirens

Family:Buxaceae

Genus: Buxus

Species: sempervirens

Common Name: Box

Buxus sempervirens

Where would we be without Buxus sempervirens? This plant more than any other typifies changes in garden styles throughout history.

If left to its own devices box forms a small tree or large shrub but its response to clipping has made it the plant of choice for plant sculptors worldwide, to varying degrees of taste!

This is a plant grown for foliage only. It is tolerant of a wide range of conditions but if grown in full sun make certain it has a good moisture retentive soil. If it dries out too much the leaves will bronze and the plant will not grow, the fate of all too many pot grown plants.
