we love: Mahonia x media 'Charity' is a fine architectural shrub ideal for exotic or jungle gardens. The stiffly upright stems often become bare at the base so this plant is best located towards the back of a border. The large evergreen leaves are divided into multiple spiked leaflets which fan out like umbrellas at the top of each stem.

In winter bright cheery yellow, lightly scented flowers, are produced in vertical spikes and are followed by deep purple black berries much loved by blackbirds.
