modern back garden design, Edinburgh
a modern, minimalist outdoor space
Our client asked for a modern garden design for the back garden of her traditional home which was being developed in a very modern style.
She asked for a space to sit and relax, where her children could play and she could entertain friends and family.
She also asked for a water feature on her garage roof which she could see from the balcony and enjoy whilst in the garden.

the new garden design
- patio - a formal patio next to the house allows space for dining and entertaining.
- lawn - wide steps lead up from the patio to a simple lawn. The lawn sits within paved areas.
- planting design - a simple, clean minimalist planting scheme mixed with herbaceous perennials provides architectural interest, texture and structure. Pleached trees make for verdant screening.
- wall panels - rusted steel and stone wall panels sit proud or recessed in the walls complimented by sculpural blocks.
- seating - bespoke split concrete blocks set at dynamic angles provide a seating spot next to the pool.
- water feature - the river of water from the rooftop water feature disappears into an angled water to appear again as it joins the main pond in the garden.
