Edinburgh courtyard garden design
A contemporary courtyard garden in Edinburgh
Our client had moved into a newly designed development and her small courtyard garden contained nothing more than a wooden deck which dominated the space.
She asked us to create an intimate garden which complimented the contemporary feel of her home and which gave her space to enjoy the peace and quiet.
the new garden design
- seating - to compliment the white rendered facade of the property a raised planter which doubles up as a bench was designed. Slatted wooden posts provide open screening and a sense of enclosure whilst also taking focus away from the very tall wall at the bottom of the garden.
- patio - light grey smooth paving gives a contemporary finish. The paving breaks up into a gravel area behind the seating.
- bird feeders - our client loves to feed the birds so we created a bespoke wooden post for hanging feeders.
- planting design - shade loving architectural plants were chosen for a jungle planting scheme at the far end of the garden whilst sun loving plants nearer the house capture the most of the sun.
The overall effect is an intimate yet dynamic space.
