Lucy Head- textile designer
material girl

Raised in a home filled with sagging book shelves and drawers overspilling with fabrics and threads Lucy was encouraged to be creative from an early age. She remembers a childhood spent drawing and painting, happily lost in a magical world of textile projects.
Aware of a developing passion her parents enrolled her in an after school sewing group and the Young Embroiderers. She spent a year at art college before studying Art History and English Literature at Edinburgh University.
After graduating she set up Lucy Head Embroidery, working as a freelance embroiderer specialising in embellishing couture wedding dresses. Yearning for more colour in her life she set up her own design label with twig interiors and now works from her light filled studio on the outskirts of Edinburgh.
She has talked about her work to various groups and works as a volunteer for the Young Embroiderers in Edinburgh. Her work is held on the Embroiderers' Guild slide index at Hampton Court.
